In this one-day workshop, participants learn several ways to apply existing Brainspotting methods when working with Car/Motor Vehicle Accidents (MVA) & PTSD. The material in this Workshop is effective for individuals who experienced or witnessed a life-threatening event, such as an accident, natural disaster, act of violence, or incidents during war. It is especially applicable for clients who experienced a car accident that resulted in PTSD and/or that exacerbated their CPTSD.
I address the best timing to begin interventions. You will learn the symptoms of PTSD vs CPTSD and how they both interact. I include vagus nerve exercises and other tools clients can use immediately before and also while driving to lower anxiety.
Learning Objectives:
Participants will review the 3 legs of Brainspotting. In addition, participants will receive an overview of:
- PTSD assessments,
- Essential principles of Brainspotting, and
- Best use of current methods of Brainspotting
Participants will be able to:
- Distinguish between PTSD and CPTSD
- Explain the benefits of vagus nerve stimulation
- List mindfulness and vagus nerve exercises
- Demonstrate Brainspotting methods to work with MVA & PTSD.
Workshop participants observe demonstrations and engage in practicum experiences, supported by a manual, experiential exercises and an informative deck. The slides reference the latest research on the topic.
Psychoeducation complements Brainspotting. We can teach clients about the effects of PTSD, and how sometimes a PTSD episode will trigger memories of previous episodes and/or developmental CPTSD.
